In order to communicate scholarly results of the Long Term Project “Tabula Imperii Byzantini (TIB)” of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and related projects [e.g. the “Digital Tabula Imperii Byzantini (Dig-TIB)”] to national and international scholars, students as well as the interested public in Vienna and Austria, Mihailo Popović has initiated together with Veronika Polloczek, Bernhard Koschicek and Vratislav Zervan, all being the research team of the “Digital Tabula Imperii Byzantini”, the “HistGeo Lecture Series” in Vienna in January 2019 (in succession of the “DPP Lecture Series” founded in January 2017). The “HistGeo Lecture Series” takes place quarterly each year (in March, June, September and December). Our aim is to present papers containing own research, but also invite speakers, the papers of which have the potential to foster discussions on new methods and digital tools in the fields of Medieval History, Byzantine Studies, Balkan Studies, Historical Geography, Cartography, Digital Humanities, GIScience and Software Engineering.
